A 30-year-old woman was severely injured after the platform of a running Tamil Nadu bus came off and fell on the road. The injured person is Swathi, wife of Rajan and a resident of Kappil near Kayamkulam. Her right-side shoulder bone got fractured in the accident. The incident happened at 12:15 on Tuesday in front of Punalur KSRTC bus depot.
Swathi was travelling from Thenkassi to Kottarakkara. When the bus reached the depot, she got up and suddenly the platform caved in at a width of three feet. She also fell onto the road with the broken portion of the platform. The absence of other vehicles at the back side avoided further tragedy.
It was the auto drivers who had taken her to Punalur Taluk hospital, Punalur police have taken the bus and the staff in custody.
